
Overview
The Mill Towns State Trail (MTST) is a multi-use state recreational paved trail under development between the communities of Faribault, Dundas, Northfield, Waterford, Randolph and Cannon Falls.
The proposed new segment of the trail will connect Riverside Park in Northfield with the historic Waterford Bridge in Waterford Township. The segment is approximately 6.1 miles in length and will be a paved trail.
Timeline
- 2024 - Construct trail from Riverside Park to TH 246 roundabout
- 2025 - Construct trail from Woodley Street to Waterford Bridge
- 2026 - Construct trail from TH 246 roundabout to Woodley Street
Community Engagement
October 5, 2023 - Celebration event
1 p.m., Spring Creek Park, 510 Jefferson Parkway
During the event, staff and officials will give a brief overview of the funding and next steps in construction of the Mill Towns State Trail, as well as honor longtime community volunteers Peggy Prowe and Margaret (Meg) Otten, who have been instrumental in advocating for the trail development.
