The Mill Towns State Trail (MTST) is a multi-use state recreational paved trail under development between the communities of Faribault, Dundas, Northfield, Waterford, Randolph and Cannon Falls.
The proposed new segment of the trail will connect Riverside Park in Northfield with the historic Waterford Bridge in Waterford Township. The segment is approximately 6.1 miles in length and will be a paved trail.
Timeline
2024 - Construct trail from Riverside Park to TH 246 roundabout
2025 - Construct trail from Woodley Street to Waterford Bridge
2026 - Construct trail from TH 246 roundabout to Woodley Street

During the event, staff and officials gave a brief overview of the funding and next steps in construction of the Mill Towns State Trail, as well as honored longtime community volunteers Peggy Prowe and Margaret (Meg) Otten, who have been instrumental in advocating for the trail development.
