Open skate times

Open skate is available most Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays and is open to all ages. Ice skates must be worn on the ice at all times; helmets are recommended. Please do not lift children in the air while on the ice. Please skate in one direction. No horseplay or playing tag on the ice.

The Northfield Ice Arena provides year-round opportunities including:

Open skating hours offered weekly, as well as skate rental and sharpening.

Open hockey for adults

You must be 18 years of age. Beginners to advanced skaters are welcome. Helmets and gloves are required to play. All other equipment is recommended.

Events in the summer

The arena is available for events, trade shows and other activities when the ice is taken out. Almost any event can be held on the dry-land floor. The arena has hosted:

  • Book fairs
  • Craft shows
  • Home and garden shows
  • Circuses
  • Roller skating
  • Lacrosse and soccer practices
  • Roller hockey and dry-land training for hockey players

About the ice arena

  • One sheet, 196 feet by 85 feet.
  • Capacity is 741 during ice season and 1,874 during dry-land months
  • We have an electric Zamboni.

The regular ice season is from September to March. Look for summer ice during July.
